It’s another beautiful day in Orlando and you’re ready to get out to enjoy the sunshine. In fact, heading downtown seems like a particularly good idea…
While you’re there, you won’t want to miss the beautiful Lake Eola Public Park. Managed by the City of Orlando, this park provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy both natural and manmade beauty. With a lake, multiple gardens, an amphitheater, and even swans, there’s no shortage of things to do.
So, where to start? Below we’ll discuss the various activities you can enjoy during your visit. We’ll also share how you can schedule an event at the park. And of course, if you’re going to visit you’ll need to know where it’s located and when the park is open, so we’ll cover that too.
Ready to head out for a day of fun? Keep reading to learn everything you need to plan your visit to Lake Eola Public Park.
Things to Do At Lake Eola Public Park
One of the first and most obvious things to do at Lake Eola Public Park is to enjoy a walk around the lake itself. On a recent visit, the walking trail has light jazz music flowing from the lamp posts. The vibe was uber relaxing and chill. Visitors can get their exercise while taking in the view as they meander the .9 mile sidewalk that borders the lake.
Or if you’re visiting during the weekend and looking for something a bit more unique, why not rent a swan boat to fully maximize your enjoyment of the lake? These boats are pedal-powered and can hold up to five people. If you have pets or service animals, you can bring them, too!
Lake Eola Public Park doesn’t take reservations for its swan boats, so they’re available on a first-come, first-served basis on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10AM to 7PM. Rentals cost $15 for 30 minutes. You can rent your Swan boat on the west side of the park at the address listed below:
195 North Rosalind Avenue
Orlando, FL 32801
You might also consider bringing your camera so you can take photos of the swans who live at the park. These swans were originally introduced in 1922 and continue to call the lake home to this day.
You can see multiple different species of swans during your visit, including Trumpeter Swans, Black Neck Swans, Whooper Swans, and more. Feed the swans using food available in dispensers throughout the park, or bring lettuce or spinach from home; just make sure not to feed them anything aside from these foods, as this can be incredibly unhealthy for the birds.
Last but most certainly not least, be sure to check the park’s event calendar to see whether there’s an upcoming show or concert you’d like to attend. The park’s amphitheater, the Walt Disney Amphitheater, is right on the water and features a beautiful view of Orland’s skyline. In addition to concerts, the park also has a farmer’s market, regular 5k races, and other events.
Host an Event at Lake Eola Public Park
If you’d like to host a concert yourself (or any other event!), you can rent certain areas of the park. Choose from multiple different locations in the park to find the area that will best meet the needs of your event, including the peninsula, amphitheater, promenade, and Sperry Fountain, to name a few.
Before getting in touch with the park, be sure to gather key information about your event, such as:
- When it’s taking place
- How many people you anticipate attending your event
- What type of event it is
- Where you want to hold your event
Then, reach out to park staff to confirm dates are available and fill out an application to secure your spot.
Additionally, you can reserve the Eola House for conferences, meetings, parties, baby showers… and more. The cost to rent this house depends on which room you want to rent. If you plan to rent the entire house, the price is $750 for six hours. There is also a $20/hour labor fee for events being held outside normal hours.
Hours and Location of Lake Eola Public Park
You can’t possibly spend a day enjoying Lake Eola Public Park if you don’t know where it is now, can you? Fortunately, it’s easy to find, especially if you’re already in the downtown area. The park is located at the address below:
512 East Washington Street
Orlando FL 32801
And fortunately for you and every other visitor to the park, it’s open every day of the week and has quite expansive hours. You can visit the park from 6AM to 11:59PM each day. Swan boat rentals have slightly different hours, as rentals are only available on the weekends (including Friday) from 10AM to 7PM.
With nothing but blue sky and sunshine in the forecast for the weekend, what’re you waiting for? A beautiful walk around the lake, Swan boat rentals, or an outdoor concert awaits you at Lake Eola Public Park.
